SAT PREP

Second Semester Assignments and Class Work

There is DAILY homework in this class. Each student is to go online and check the "SAT Question of the Day" and attempt to answer the question. If the "Question of the Day" is a math problem, review the questions from previous days. In addition vocabulary lists will be distributed each week to prepare for the vocabulary quiz that week. The word lists are cumulative, so each week the quiz will include the words from that week AND words from some of the previous word lists.

STUDENT AGREEMENT PAGE

1.    We have read the English course introduction sheet/syllabus and clearly understand the policies and expectations of the class.

2.    We have viewed the powerpoint presentation on plagiarism and clearly understand the following:

a.       Plagiarism includes not only the outright stealing of words, but the stealing of ideas as well.  If my teacher asks me to individually and personally respond to my reading – whether in written or oral form – I realize that she/he is evaluating MY OWN understanding of and thoughts about the work in question, NOT the understanding and ideas of others.  Consequently, I understand that I cannot use or consult secondary, outside sources that provide details and analysis of the literary works being studied unless I receive prior permission from my teacher and unless I plan to cite those sources. This includes Cliff’s Notes and other similar “resources,” whether online or in print, as well as the work of my peers. I understand the definition of plagiarism AND the meaning of independent work.

b. I understand the consequences of any act of plagiarism and/or cheating in ANY class at PPCHS. After my first offense, I will receive a zero for the assignment as well as a referral to an administrator and a Saturday detention. After my second offense (in any class, not just the class in which the first offense occurred), I will receive a zero for the assignment as well as a referral to an administrator and a 1-2 day detention.
